Three pieces, in this order of importance. Get the first one right and the look holds up even if the other two are simple.
- A white dress or robe. Drape and a long line do the work, and there are two ways to get them: a floor-skimming hem, or a full-length cape over a shorter dress. Gold at the neckline, waist or hem stops plain white looking unfinished.
- Wings. The instant identifier. Nobody has to guess what you are once the wings are on.
- A halo. The smallest piece, and the easiest to leave until last. It sits in frame with your face, so it shows in most photos.

1. The dress or robe
For an adult, the piece that solves this step is a draped white dress with gold on it.
