A Morphsuit is a form-fitting, full-body costume made from lightweight, breathable fabric that covers you from head to toe while allowing you to see, breathe, and drink through the material. MorphCostumes, founded in Edinburgh, invented it in 2009: one piece of stretch knit, from the face covering down to the feet.
How does a Morphsuit work as a full-body costume?
A Morphsuit is a spandex bodysuit that stretches to fit your entire body, with a face covering you can see out through while your face stays hidden from the outside. The 125GSM+ breathable fabric is lightweight and soft enough to wear all event, and the Original Morphsuit's knit is 91% polyester and 9% elastane with four-way stretch, so it moves when you move.
The Original Morphsuit is one piece, and the face covering is part of the suit. Here is how its product page describes it.

What is a Morphsuit made of?
A Morphsuit is made of a polyester and elastane stretch knit, and the Original Morphsuit uses 91% polyester and 9% elastane. The elastane and the four-way stretch give the suit its give, so it is easy to get in and out of and moves with you.
Across our costumes, the seams that touch your skin are covered in soft material. Every costume goes through over 30 measurement checks, and the company runs over 500,000 quality checks a year. Our adult Morphsuits and kids' Morphsuits pages carry the solid colors and the printed designs.
Can you see, breathe, and drink through a Morphsuit?
Yes: the face covering is a see-out fabric, so you can see, breathe, and even have a drink through it while your face stays covered, which is how our Original Morphsuit product page describes it.
While the face covering is down, your vision and hearing are slightly reduced, so take care near roads, stairs, and open flames. Our guide to seeing, breathing, and talking through a full-face Morphsuit mask goes through it in more detail, and the guide to using the restroom in a Morphsuit covers the question people ask next.
How should a Morphsuit fit, and how do you get into one?
A Morphsuit should fit snug like a second skin, and you pick the size by height, not by chest or waist. The Original Morphsuit comes in M, L, XL, and XXL, and the size guide on the product page matches each size to a height range.
You step in and zip up. The Original Morphsuit has double zips and reinforced stitching, and some designs, such as the kids' jaguar suit below, have a quick-release Velcro hood. Closures differ by design, so check the product page for the one you want, and match your height against the size guide before you order.

A printed Morphsuit, same one-piece idea
The Kids Jaguar Morphsuit has an all-over orange jaguar print on 91% polyester, 9% elastane fabric with four-way stretch, a quick-release Velcro hood, and cover-stitched inner seams. It comes in Small, Medium, and Large, chosen by height, and the pack holds the one suit.
How do you care for a Morphsuit?
A Morphsuit takes a cold hand wash and an air dry. For the Original Morphsuit, wash it inside out, do not tumble dry, iron, or bleach it, and hang it to dry. Check the care block on the product page for your design: the kids' jaguar suit, for one, says to wash gently in cool water and air dry it flat.

Who wears a Morphsuit, and which colors do our customers pick?
People wear Morphsuits solo, under another costume, or as a whole group in different colors, which is how our Original Morphsuit page describes the use. For a group, the solid colors do the work: each person picks a color, and the group reads as a set. In the National Retail Federation's September 2026 survey, dressing in costume (50%) was among the top ways consumers said they mark Halloween.
Between April 22 and October 12, 2026, black was in 50% of the orders on our US website that included a solid-color Original Morphsuit, adult or kids, ahead of green (15%), white (10%), red (9%), and blue (8%). One order can include more than one color, so an order can count toward several colors.
| Original Morphsuit color | Share of solid-color Original Morphsuit orders that included it |
|---|---|
| Black | 50% |
| Green | 15% |
| White | 10% |
| Red | 9% |
| Blue | 8% |
