Kids Pirate Costumes
Kids Pirate Costumes for Ages 3 to 12, in Five Complete Sets
Our kids' pirate costumes are complete sets for ages 3 to 12: four of the five come with a pirate hat, and the deckhand and captain sets add an eye patch and a foam sword on top. Sizing runs from a 3-4 years jumpsuit up to a deckhand set built for a 10 to 12 year old.
Call it a pirate outfit or a pirate captain costume: the striped shirt, vest, and hat read as a pirate from across the room either way. Ours get worn to Halloween, school dress-up days, class costume days, and birthday parties year-round.
Choosing a Kids' Pirate Costume by Age
For a toddler or a 3 to 4 year old, the one-piece jumpsuit has the striped top, vest, and pants sewn together, so there is one thing to step into before the hat goes on.
From about 4 to 9, the separate-piece sets add a shirt, vest, and pants, along with the parts a child actually plays with: an eye patch and a sword. A plain long-sleeve top underneath keeps a child warm at a cold outdoor party without changing the look. For 10 to 12 year olds, the deckhand set runs its own size to that age, and the captain set goes up to a Large.
Check each product page's own size guide rather than the age label alone, and size up if your child sits between two bands: the extra room makes running around, or a proper sword fight, easier. Every costume goes through over 30 measurement checks. All of our kids' products are safety tested by accredited labs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What comes in a kids' pirate costume?
Four of the five sets include a pirate hat: a skull-print hat with the toddler jumpsuit, a plain pirate hat with the deckhand, a hat with an attached bandana with the captain, and a tricorn hat with the girls' set. The deckhand and captain sets add an eye patch and a foam sword; the toddler jumpsuit comes with a printed treasure map and a toy dagger instead, and the girls' set adds its own belt and toy sword. The inflatable mermaid pick-me-up set skips the hat and the sword: it is the costume, the built-in fan, and the battery pack. Check each product page for the exact list.
What is the youngest age for a kids' pirate costume?
Our pirate sets start at age 3. Every product page states the same limit: not suitable for children under 3 years of age, due to small parts. For a 3 year old at the young end of that band, check the size guide rather than the age label alone.
Is there a pirate costume that goes up to age 12?
Yes. The Kids Basic Pirate Deckhand Costume runs a 10 to 12 years size, and the Kids Pirate Captain Costume goes up to a Large. Check the size guide on the product page before ordering for a tall 12 year old.
Are these pirate costumes for girls as well as boys?
Yes. The shirt-and-vest sets work for any child, and the Pirate Captain Blue Pink Girls costume is a dress-based set built specifically for a girls' fit, in blue and pink with its own tricorn hat and toy sword.
Is a pirate costume a good choice for Halloween or a school dress-up day?
Yes. A pirate reads instantly without tying a child to one book or movie character, which makes it an easy costume for any dress-up day. Leave the foam sword at home if the school has a no-props rule.
How do I wash a kids' pirate costume?
The four fabric sets (the toddler jumpsuit, the deckhand, the captain, and the girls' costume) take a cold hand wash and an air dry. The inflatable mermaid costume takes a sponge wipe with the fan pack removed instead.
