Below we take the colors one at a time and say who each one suits, because that is the actual question in a group chat at 9 p.m. in October. Start with the color, then the cut

The franchise has run through plenty of ranger colors over thirty years, gold and silver included, but seven are the ones people picture. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the 1993 original, put five rangers on screen in red, black, blue, yellow and pink, then added a sixth in green who later switched to white. Those seven are the set we make for adults, and they are still the ones a room recognizes.

Green: the sixth ranger's color

Green is the color for the fan in the group. It did not arrive with the original five: a sixth ranger, Tommy Oliver, turned up in green partway through the first series, joined the team, and later traded green for white. That mid-series arrival is why green sits apart from the other five, and why it suits the person who watched the show the first time around rather than whoever grabbed a color from a list.

White: the upgrade look

White is what Tommy traded green for, so it reads as the later, upgraded version of the same character. One honest note: white shows everything, so it is a better pick for an indoor party than a wet walk home.

Dressing as a full team

A five-color ranger team is one of the few group costumes a room recognizes across a crowded bar, and that is worth more than it sounds. Americans were forecast to spend a record $13.1 billion on Halloween in 2025, $4.3 billion of it on costumes, per the National Retail Federation's 2025 survey. Plenty of that goes on costumes nobody can name from ten feet away.

Settle the colors before anyone orders. The person who organized it takes red, then work outward: the original five are red, black, blue, yellow and pink, and green or white cover a sixth and seventh without breaking the set.
